Catherine Lawlor holds B.M. and M.M in Piano with Honors from the New England Conservatory of Music. She was awarded a full scholarship and a teaching assistantship for her graduate study. She has performed solo and chamber music concerts, including performances at the Gardner Museum, Edward M. Pickman Hall (Longy School of Music), Kneisel Hall (Blue Hill, Maine), Dartington Music Festival (Devon, UK), and Brown University. Her revered teachers of piano include Theodore Lettvin, Katja Andy, Arminda Canteros and Tatiana Yampolsky.
A long-time faculty member of the New School of Music, she has had the pleasure of working with many of her students from elementary school through high school and college, seeing them develop from beginners to advanced players. She also teaches at the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Favorite concert I attended
When he was very aged, I heard Artur Rubinstein, the great Polish pianist, play a solo concert. A poor and penniless student, I snuck into the sold-out concert. He was sublime.
