Kai-Ching Chang (she/her) enjoys helping students explore beyond the classical repertoire and discover diverse musical styles. Trained as a classical pianist, she integrates storytelling, collaboration, and creativity into her teaching. She guides students to develop thoughtful practice strategies that align with their musical interpretations while fostering healthy technique to prevent injury. In addition to solo piano, she specializes in chamber music coaching, helping students cultivate active listening, ensemble communication, and expressive collaboration—skills that enrich both musicianship and personal growth.

An accomplished performer, Ms. Chang has released two albums: Brahms Sonatas for Piano and Violin (2019) with violinist Benjamin Shute, and the upcoming Let Us Dance, Let Us Sing (April 2025) with Tiny Glass Tavern. Hailed as “a terrific pianist…as a collaborative pianist she cannot be beat” (Boston Musical Intelligencer), she has also been praised for her “poetic Beethoven Sonata Op. 109, carefully forming every single note as a dynamically refined storyteller” (Epoch Times). She has performed internationally and collaborated with renowned musicians, including Laurence Lesser, Paula Robison, and the late Roger Tapping.

Her commitment to accessible arts led to When Notes Fly, a chamber music series that inspired an award-winning documentary. She has served as a staff pianist at New England Conservatory and currently teaches at the New School of Music in Cambridge. Ms. Chang holds degrees from Soochow University (Taiwan) and the Longy School of Music, where she won the Concerto Competition. Her performances can be heard on WGBH Radio and Apple Music.
