Assistant
Director/School Manager Position- Open as of 3/5/2010
The New
School of Music, a community music school in Cambridge MA, seeks an Assistant
Director/School Manager to provide administrative and general
operations support and promote organizational growth. Duties
include, but are not limited to: lesson and class registration; phone coverage;
concert and recital management; routine building management tasks; assisting with
publicity and marketing campaigns and with program development.
Requirements:
BA/BS. Degree in Music Education or equivalent a plus, as well as related
experience in music education and/or arts program management. Candidates with related work experience may
also be considered. Some nights and weekends expected with negotiable comp
time.
Personal
characteristics should include excellent written and oral communication skills,
organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Computer
skills: proficiency with MS Office Suite and Filemaker, and experience with
web-based marketing.
Salaried
40 hr position. Compensation
commensurate with experience. Range: 27-30 K per year. Benefits include 4 weeks
vacation and healthcare coverage. Three references required.

Music Together instructor:
Using Music Together curriculum, teach parent-child classes for mixed infants through age 4. Current schedule is Wednesday and Fridays at 10 and 11am to start in January. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to a teaching career, an understanding of the toddler-preschool age group, and a passion for sharing music. The ability to play a musical instrument and/or sing is a plus.
